31 August 2005, 14:06 Happy Blog Day, Everyone!

Today, Aug 31, the world (or at least the world’s geeks) are celebrating BlogDay 2005!

blogday 2005

BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On that day Bloggers will recommend other blogs to their blog visitors.

...For one long moment on August 31st, bloggers from all over the world will post recommendations of 5 new Blogs, preferably Blogs that are different from their own culture, point of view and attitude. On this day, blog surfers will find themselves leaping around and discovering new, unknown Blogs, celebrating the discovery of new people and new bloggers…

Here are my 5 blog recommendations:

  1. Digg.com – Digg is a technology news website that combines social bookmarking, blogging, RSS, and non-hierarchical editorial control. With digg, users submit stories for review, but rather than allowing an editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users do.
  2. Hell Yeah, Bitch! – despite its name, this is a very fun blog to read. I still not quite sure what this blog is really about, but I’m still having a blast each time I read it.
  3. Crash Test Kitchen – Waz and Lenny are a couple of foodies with a digital video camera. Call it a food video blog, a cooking video blog, cooking vlog, food vlog, reality cooking or whatever … They’re just out to have fun!
  4. Simon Willison’s Weblog – I recommend anyone who is even slightly interested in development and the Web in general to add this site to your bookmarks.
  5. HicksDesign – One of the better-known designers. This site offers interesting articles and is one of the reasons I decided to use CSS when I made this website.
